Pola Argumen Toulmin



ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan pola argumen Toulmin pada proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura. (2) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan kualitas argumen proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura. Desain penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan sumber data dari empat orang guru IPA serta siswa kelas VII dan VIII. Sumber data dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen utama pada penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri yang dibantu dengan pedoman observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan dokumentasi. 

Penelitian bertempat di SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura, dan dilaksanakan pada semester genap Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Tahapan analisis data yang dilakukan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pola argumen Toulmin pada proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura terdiri dari 2 pola dengan variasinya. (2) kualitas argumen proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura 64,40% pola Ground-Claim dengan kategori lemah dan 35,60% pola Warrant-Ground-Claim dengan kategori cukup kuat. 

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Pola argumentasi pada proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura terdiri atas pola Claim-Gorund dan Claim-Ground- Warrant dengan variasinya. (2) Kualitas argumen proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura 64,40% dengan kategori lemah dan 35,60% dengan kategori cukup kuat. Jadi kualitas argumen proses pembelajaran IPA SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura bervariasi dari lemah dan cukup kuat, karena lemahnya pengawasan dari kepala sekolah dan pengawas akademik dalam bentuk supervisi akademik, sumber belajar yang tersedia hanya berupa buku paket, proses pembelajaran tanpa mengacu pada rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP) yang sudah disusun.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to (1) describe and explain the Toulmin argument pattern in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura and (2) describe and explain the argument quality in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura. The design of this study was qualitative with data sources form four science teachers and students in grade VII and VIII. Data sources were selected based on purposive sampling technique. The main instrument in this study was the researcher who was assisted by observation guidelines, interview guidlines, and documentation. 

The study took place at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura, and was conducted in even semester of academic year 2017/2018. Data was collected through observation, interview and documentation techniques. The stages of data analysis carried out are data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of the study shows: (1) the Toulmin argument pattern in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura consists of 2 pattern with variations. The pattern are claim-ground pattern with the pattern variations claim-ground, ground-claim, and claim-ground warrant pattern with the pattern variations claim-ground-warrant, claim-warrant-ground, warrant-ground- claim, warrant-claim-ground, ground-warrant-claim, and ground-claim-warrant. (2) the argument quality in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura was 64.40% ground-claim pattern with weak category and 35.60% warrant-ground-claim with a fairly strong category. 

Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that (1) argumentation pattern in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura consists of claim-ground and claim-ground-warrant pattern with the variations. (2) argument quality in the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura 64.40% with weak category and 35.60% with fairly strong category. So it be concluded that the argument quality of the science learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Amlapura varies from weak to fairly strong, because of the weak supervision of the principal and academic supervisor in the form of academic supervision, learning resources available are only in the form of textbooks and LKS, the learning process without referring to the planned implementation of learning.
